Got to give some people something to moan about.....
First bit of news..........Heather took her Learner's Theory Test last Friday and passed first time - jammy mare. So look out SE QLD she's on the road driving! She's learning with Kevan at the moment in his very large, very heavy 2.6 five seater ute and although she's only had a couple of go's Kevan says she's getting better. Lots of time spent learning clutch control on the slope of the drive. I stayed well away but she'll be fine.
She's also got herself a job at Woolies. Supermarket here, not a variety store thing like the UK. Had a one hour lecture/interview/video thing together with a test, passed that and then had a one on one interview and got offered the job so that'll keep her busy for holidays and weekends whilst earning some money for 'the' car.
Competing season for Cheer is over for another year for Abs so now they have started learning new routines for next year. Nationals are happening in Melbourne next year so if they're going down we will too. Not been to Melbourne.
Kevan is going great guns on the extension. I'll get the photos on but basically all 99% of brickwork done, just a bit that has shuttering at the moment will become brick when the whole thing is finished. Insulation is done so at least one corner of the house has something more than plasterboard and bricks! Don't go a lot on insulation in this country. Kev and Nicky came down the other weekend for Kev to help Kevan concrete the floor then last weekend the old outside wall came down and we now have the 'finished' space. Most of it has now been plasterboarded.
Then a small wall needs to come down, floor tiles need to come up, floor levelled and new flooring put down, decorating, new front door fitted, internal door created, fireplace moved, fans installed, and then shift furniture. Should be done by Christmas (possibly 2009 though).
The weather the past few days has been fairly poor. Much much wet stuff but we've been lucky, huge storm at the weekend was expected down here but hit Brisbane hard - hard enough to be declared a natural disaster area. Only one person died but stacks and stacks of property damage, trees down, power lines down etc etc etc. Bit chilly though, no sun warming things up. Feels like November in the UK but it's about 20 degrees so I guess the UK lot would disagree slightly!!! Sorry but 20 degrees is chilly. No way do I want to experience a UK winter again. Mind you, not totally sure I want to experience a UK summer either but one day may be. Saw on the internet that some of you had snow the other week. Seems a bit early but don't imagine it was proper snow and probably didn't last long. However, during the storm here on Sunday some areas had a hail storm which covered the area enough to look snow like. Hail stones were only an inch or so big so nothing major unless you were in the northern suburbs of Brisbane, where they were HUGE - and I mean huge.
