Couple of weeks ago Kevan came home and said he'd be going away for a couple of days the following week for work. Had a contract to fit 50 odd air con units in a retirement complex up in Toowoomba (Left of Brissie on the way to nowhere). Kev and Nicky come down for a meal (more later) and he's telling them and then dropped in about a fortnight in Mackay (half way up to Cairns - about a 14 hour drive). Whoa! Hang on, where did that come from? Then we all get the usual story about how I never listen, how he tells me but knows I'm not taking any notice blah blah blah when we all know he has said absolutely nothing about Mackay!
The two days then became four last week and this morning at really silly o'clock (3am) off he goes to Mackay and could he make more noise about leaving?????? Loudest alarm goes off at 2:40, then when he's in the living room he's on the phone talking at normal volume. Then let's have the door bang a few times!!! Anyway off he's gone to experience a bit of Aus none of us have been to.
Back to the meal. Kev and Nicky came down because Kev had his flight booked back to the UK (one way) for last Thursday, whilst Nicky stays on to sell up house, close up life, finish job, get citizenship and then head back. Seems a huge shame but he hates it here so no point him staying. I still think he should have hung on for citizenship as well (only about 5 months) but never mind. Had a great meal at the RSL, saw on the specials that they had Beef Wellington, both Nicky and I got excited and ordered only for the waitress to say they had just sold the last one. Bummer. Never mind had excellent steaks instead. Had a lovely time and we'll miss him (and her when she goes) but that's life.
