More pics and general info

This fella came to visit the other week. Spent the day sleeping and slithered off over the roof in the evening. We worked out he was about 2 metres long so not huge.

I'm quite glad it wasn't this one. Twice the length and with a wallaby for lunch. Not sure he would have balanced on the beam!

Been meaning to copy this picture to the blog for ages (years if truth be told) and finally got round to it. Aerial shot of the school and some of local suburbs. Our place isn't on there, we're over to the right by a few kms but it's a lovely shot.

I've only just noticed though, it looks really flat but there's actually a very steep hill in between the school and the ocean. The road looking like a dog leg on the left half rises really steeply from the roundabout and the hill continues all the way across and takes in the wooded bit and then goes on up and along to our place. Geeky stuff: The school is at about 2metres above sea level, the top of the hill is about 45metres and then gets to us at about 114metres above.

Our end of the coast. The left hand end is nearly the end of Queensland and the GC, the right side is just before Burleigh. Some people think the GC is a mass of high rises and apartment blocks all parked bang next to each other with bars and restaurants squeezed inbetween. It is so not like that. I should think that bit covers an area about 3kms long and wide. On a coast of about 40kms it's just a very small area.
