This place is so cool!

First off, thanks for the birthday cards and pressies. Very appreciated. Got a massage chair from Kevan and the girls. Real deal, it rolls, kneads, pummels wherever you want, strength you want etc. Nicki came down for the weekend and being an ex massage expert I got her to have a go and she was quite impressed which impressed me - all easily pleased. It even has a drinks holder and is in front of the bedroom tv so that's me sorted!

We have now taken the boat out twice and both times met some dolphins - very exciting. I thought Nicki was going to jump overboard to go swimming with them but we held her back! First time out we very nearly ran out of fuel but according to Kevan it was all perfectly timed - not. Second time we got back to the ramp just as the rains came but all good. Both Heather and Abs have had a go at driving and did well. We're all still here anyway.

Some pics:

tough life !

The kookaburras are now happily feeding out of our hands - they only like raw meat and most people have dog meat (that's meat for dogs not actual dog meat) but it stinks so I use cheapest supermarket cow mince (that's mince from cows not for...... never mind)

Today was very exciting. We had a koala and her baby visit for the day. Apparently, according to our neighbour we had one in a tree right next to the house for four days a few weeks ago but they didn't bother telling us until a week later!!!! Anyway this one was in a tree down the garden.

Heather's having a birthday sleepover tonight. Should have had three mates over but one was sick so just two. They're watching an old Gang Show dvd and Heather and Abs keep mentioning people's names and Tara and Aisling are being very polite and seem to be enjoying it!!! Don't think they have a clue what's going on, especially one sketch about loads of British town names!!!!

Off to the cinema on Thursday to see Hairspray. I don't know if these cinemas are big in the UK but we have Gold Class ones which are the same as the Berkhampstead one with about 20 huge recliner chairs and restaurant service with a full menu. We were going there but they are no longer showing Hairspray, so will have to leave that for another day and another film.

We are now happily washing, showering etc with our own rain water. It's fab, no chlorine, very soft and we can have showers longer than 4 minutes - whoo hoo! Up to Saturday we had used up about a sixth of the tank and then the heavens opened and it's now completely full again so we can put off using town water again for another few months if it doesn't rain again.

The Queensland Premier (who was a complete numpty) resigned the other day and we now have a lady Premier (first one for QLD). Hopefully now we will get daylight saving. The last guy was really anti about it, believed the cows wouldn't give milk, the chickens wouldn't lay eggs, all furniture would fade and.... wait for it..... children wouldn't go to bed if we changed the clocks a couple of times a year. I don't know what the new woman thinks of it but I would hope she is a bit more forward thinking. On the other hand, it doesn't affect us too much, Kevan gets more time at home with daylight without it so.... no worries!

Tuesday update

Kevan saw the koalas this morning and took these pics. They had gone by the time I got up. Right next to the dining room door so very very close.

Oh just remembered something else I was going to show you whether you want to see it or not. Every year there is a sculpture exhibition down on the beach here. Might have mentioned it last year, can't remember and can't be bothered to go back and look. Anyway we took Nicki down on Sunday to see them. Very impressed. It's all free and you just wander along the beach, in the sunshine, drinking smoothies!!! Took pics of a few of the pieces.

A couple of random photos of a bird who's name completely escapes me! Thanks Keela - Eastern Rosella.

Took him totally by surprise, walked along the veranda swung his keys and suddenly had a kookaburra on his arm!
