Not too much to say but have now painted the walls and posts of the veranda they look far better. It does look better now, honest. Will take some more when top coat is on and all the "rubbish" cleared away. But it gives you some idea. There will be a retaining wall down the slope with a fence on top which will tidy up the edge bit. Kevan has been side tracked by poo!!
We had a slight problem with sorting out the pool. We found out we are not on mains sewerage but have what's called a Transpiration Field in the garden. We have a septic tank which then leads into the "field". Unfortunately after contacting the council and being told they didn't have plans of where the field was, we (sorry, Kevan) had to start digging to find the pipes so we could plan where to put the pool.
Once he found the pipes, he worked back to find the access hatch and discovered that some dozy person had covered it over with soil and planted a tree on it. Had to chop the tree down and dig up the earth. Then we found that the roots of the trees had cracked the pipes and blocked them so that had to be cleared. Finally done it and all back to normal. We can now go ahead with the pool.
The exchange rate has gone up slightly so transferred some more money to pay for it all, as well as the flooring. Yes we are going ahead. Can't bear the mortuary look any longer. The discussion now is what colour wood!!! Kevan wants a light pine but me and the girls want a light oak. Might be a time to let the girls vote count!!
We can't paint the walls yet because we have decided to remove the living room/kitchen/hall ceiling and have the room with a vaulted ceiling. Should help with keeping it cool during summer, it also looks great. One of our neighbours has it and it is impressive.
